Lent Week 6!

“Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion!
Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem!
Behold, your King is coming to you;
He is just and having salvation,
Lowly and riding on a donkey,
A colt, the foal of a donkey."

Zechariah 9:9

 

I can't believe we are entering the final week before Easter already! I hope that you all have a blessed Holy Week with your families.

Here a few things we did last week.

An Easter and St. Patrick's Day mural.

 

We played Easter pictionary.

 Buddy was really intent on drawing a cross.

We finished our Easter garden.

 

The kids made a crown of thorns.

I taught the kids about the wordless book and they each made one.

 On Palm Sunday we did a little re-enactment of the triumphal entry.  

We also read about Passover and watched Prince of Egypt and the Ten Commandments. 

This is one of the hymns we have been practicing this year and it is our favorite.

Lent weeks 4 and 5!

"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new." 1 Corinthians 5:17 

 The days are marching on and we are getting closer and closer to Easter. Here are a few things we have done the last few weeks.

The grass we planted sprouted quickly.

   

We have burned through stacks of candles.  

and the kids are always thinking of creative ways to extinguish them.  

The kids love singing hymns.

 

We made this sign for the window. Yes I did terrible outlining the letters, 

but the kids did great coloring them in.

   

The kids made Easter bookmarks to give to friends.

 

We made butterflies to remind us of the Resurrection and our new life in Christ.  

The kids worked on Easter cards for family.

   

We learned about St. Patrick with this book and this video, and had a little celebration.

We also took a nature walk and kept our eyes peeled for things that reminded us of the life of Christ.
 A spear and the cornerstone.

Purple flowers for royalty and suffering.

Straight and narrow and the stone that rolled away.

   

A vine and a cross.

   

Clovers that remind us of the trinity.

   

We also found an Ent by accident.
