We have been continuing with our Lent activities and I thought I would share a couple things we have done the last few weeks.
The kids each have a piece of paper with a lent tree that they are coloring one thing on per day(except Sundays) to count down to Easter.
The kids each planted a pot of grass seeds. The grass represents new life in Christ, and we will transplant them to our Easter Garden closer to Easter.
Another day the kids painted wooden crosses. The purple represents the pain and suffering of Christ and his kingship.
Sweetpea put them in our sand box.
We made homemade pretzels, which symbolize praying hands.
These were my gluten free ones. The regular ones turned out much more fluffy.
We did some other activities as well such as learning and praying for persecuted Christians, and we let the kids choose a charity to give to. They chose The Hands and Feet Project.
“Now, therefore,” says the Lord,
“Turn to Me with all your heart,
With fasting, with weeping, and with mourning.”
13 So rend your heart, and not your garments;
Return to the Lord your God,
For He is gracious and merciful,
Slow to anger, and of great kindness;
And He relents from doing harm.
14 Who knows if He will turn and relent,
And leave a blessing behind Him—
A grain offering and a drink offering
For the Lord your God?
Joel 2:12-14
