Happy St. Patrick's day

The kids were very excited about St. Patrick's day this year! We have been reading a few books about the true story of St. Patrick and books about the holiday. They were bummed that there isn't a St. Patrick's day parade around here, so they did their own.

After the parade we had a scavenger hunt for gold coins(chocolate of course)

Tot School 11

We had a busy week of school this week, and I took so many pictures that I had to make a slideshow. Our theme has been rainbows and St. Patrick's day. For a couple of days we did all green things. We had one yellow day, and then one day of rainbow color order. The kids all had a lot of fun.  Next week we are going to do the rest of the colors and some Noah's ark stuff.

A bit of a Thursday!

A couple of crafts!

The kid's and I had a really fun week studying rainbows and St. Patrick. Here are a couple crafts we did. I originally got the idea for this craft from the Crafty Crow, but they used Crepe paper. I didn't have enough colors of that around, and being the cheap skate that I am I decided to use construction paper instead. I just cut strips of construction paper in rainbow colors. I also Drew clouds on white cardstock and cut them out.

The kids glued the strips onto the clouds:

Then they glued cotton balls onto the cloud.

The finished product. I think they are very cute ;)
Another craft we did was sunshines. I saw this idea on no time for flashcards a couple of months ago. The kids painted a paper plate yellow and added glitter of course. After the plates dried I traced their hands onto yellow construction paper. I cut them out and the kids glued them to the back of the plate.

The kids painted these shamrocks green.

Then we wrote Father, Son, Holy spirit to show how St. Patrick taught the Irish about the trinity.

Weekly K roundup!

Buster had a short week with school also. We had visitors on Monday/Wednesday, and Mops on Tuesday. He is doing really well with his reading and math. On Monday he told me school was really fun! Here are some fun things we did on top of his regular work.
He really enjoyed making pictures with these magnents.

He got to play with my cousins son. They live in a different state, so we don't get to see them much.

He was doing magic tricks for daddy. Daddy and him read a book about St. Patrick.

We had quite a few interuptions this week. With MOPS and visitors, but we did manage to get some good playing/learning time in. I found a few new tools/toys last weekend at a garage sale and Salvation Army. Buttercup really got into totschool this week, so there are actually quite a few pictures of her.

A bit of a Thursday!

I'm sure you have heard this poem before, but I cam across it again today. I think it is really sweet. I can't believe my little one is a toddler now ;(

Mother, O Mother, come shake out your cloth,
Empty the dustpan, poison the moth,
Hang out the washing, make up the bed,
Sew on a button and butter the bread.

Where is the mother whose house is so shocking?
She's up in the nursery, blissfully rocking.

Oh, I've grown as shiftless as Little Boy Blue,

Dishes are waiting and bills are past due

The shopping's not done and there's nothing for stew
