Tot School 12

Tot School
Well I'll have to compete with Carisa for the worst week ever. First of all it was Spring Break, so I gave the kids the week off. I had planned to still do some fun stuff with the kids, but Sweetpea felt sick. I found myself on the couch much of the week, and then I found out on Thursday I was pregnant for number 4. Here are a couple pics for you to enjoy. Next week I'm getting my act back together.

News!

Well we just found out yesterday that we are expecting baby number 4! It was a bit of a suprise, but we are excited anyways. This one is due in November. I had thought that a spring baby would be nice, but God had other plans. "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jer.29:11

Stellan!

Prayers for Stellan
I have been following McKmama over at My Charming Kids for a couple of months. She has a really great blog and is a really interesting writer and photographer. Her youngest son Stellan had heart failure while still in the womb. After much praying and medical intervention he was born happy and healthy. Just this week suddenly his heart problems have re-occured and he is now in the PICU. If you could spare a prayer for this sweet little boy, I'm sure his family would appriciate it.

Tot Lunch!

Carisa at Totally tots is hosting a new weekly feature:
Tot Food, What's on your tot's plate.
Here is a couple of pics of one lunch this week.

I bought these plates at Walmart for .96 cents. The kids love to have their own color. Buster's is green, Sweetpea's is pink, and Buttercup has blue.

On this day they ate baby carrots with ranch, grapes, and a peanut butter and jelly sandwhich(made with natural peanut butter).

First day of spring!

Happy Spring!
I've seen this craft idea a few times, and I think it is really cute! We did this today at the Y for TGIF. Sweetpea stayed at my house with Grandma while I was there, so she wanted to do one when I got home. We took a blue piece of construction paper and glued 5 green strips on it.

Next we used 5 mini cupcake holders flatened, and glued one on each stem. After that she glued five mini cupcake holders to the centers.

Finally she glued on some leaves.

Isn't it sweet!

Here is a poem we glued onto it at the Y:

5 Little Daffodils Fingerplay
One little daffodil had nothing much to do,
Out popped another one, then there were two.
Two little daffodils were smiling at a bee,
Out popped another one, then there were three.
Three little daffodils were growing by the door,
Out popped another one and then there were four.
Four little daffodils were glad to be alive,
Out popped another one and then there were five.
Five little daffodils were wearing golden crowns,
They danced in the breeze in green satin gowns.

I got this over at http://katiesnestingspot.blogspot.com/2009/03/storytime-art-cupcake-holder-daffodils.html

Crafts again!

We did a lot of crafts the last couple of weeks. I found the rainbow theme to be easy to incorporate crafting. I got the idea from these two crafts at two different blogs. No time for flash cards, and just for fun I think. I really anjoy browsing many blogs to get inspiration, and then adapt what I find to what I have. The first craft is a rainbow with a pot of gold. I cut two paper plates in half to make the pot and the rainbow. The kids painted the pot brown.

Then they colored the rainbow arch.

I let them color this one any way they wanted.

We then glued them to a piece of construction paper. I had printed some gold coins and they glued thos down also. Finally they sprinkled it with glitter.

Next is R for rainbow. I really liked this one. We used the same strips of construction paper that I had cut last week. I drew an R on white paper and covered it with glue.

Then the kids layed the strips across it in rainbow order.

When they were done I cut the R's out, and the kids glued them onto Black paper. Of course Sweetpea had to add glitter ;)

Color mixing/craft

I have been teaching the kids how to mix secondary colors. Last week we did this project. I sprayed shaving creme into three ziplock bags, then added yellow/blue, blue/red, and yellow/red. The kids squshed them to make green, purple, and orange.

After the colors were mixed we dumped the shaving creme into a pan and swirled it around.

Next the kids took white card stock and layed it on the mixture.

I then wiped the creme of with a napkin, and this is the finished product.
