Circle C Beginnings, Andi's Pony Trouble! TOS Review

Circle,C,Kregel,Susan,Marlow
Kregel Publications has just recently published a new series of books for girls ages 6-8, and it is called Circle C Beginnings. They previously published a series of books by the same author called Circle C Adventures. Circle C Beginning tells the story of Andi before the Circle C Adventures. I was sent a copy of the first book in this currently 4 part series to review. The book is called Andi's Pony Trouble, and is about 6 year old Andi living on a farm with her family in 1874. Andi is a fun adventurous little girl who dreams of getting a horse of her very own instead of the old worn down family pony.

Andi's Pony Trouble is a very fun book full of adventure, everyday farm life, and moral lessons. The illustrations are charming, and the writing is just right for the intended age range. You can see samples of it here. Sweetpea is not quite ready to read it on her own, but she very much enjoyed listening to me reading it to her. I would say the the reading level would be late 2nd-3rd grade.  Right now there are 4 titles available and two more will be released in August.

One other great thing about this series are the free coloring pages, and activity sheets available at the Circle C beginnings website. There are 8 coloring sheets for each book. Each image is taken directly from the books. Both Sweetpea, and Buttercup loved coloring them. They also have an activity pack for each book that contains Games, puzzles, coloring sheets, maps, math worksheets, horse info, and more. The Activity packs are really fun, and educational too. There are also free online puzzles for kids to play with.

You can purchase the books for $4.99 each +$2 S&H, in sets of two for $9.98+$2 S&H, or as a set of 4 for $15.96+ $3 S&H! They also sell lapbooks that go along with each book for $12 dollars a piece. I will most likely be purchasing the rest of the set myself soon. My girls loved the one we have and Sweetpea says "I like the book because it has ponies and horses"!

Andi's Pony Trouble was given to me free of charge from Kregel Publications in exchange for my honest review. No other compensation was given.

Pros:
Fun.
Well written.
Wonderful illustrations.
Good clean content.
Reasonably priced.

Cons:
I honestly can't think of any.

Head over to the Homeschool Crew blog to read more about this and other books in the series!
